Botox®/ Dysport®/ Xeomin®: How does it work?

Botox ®/ Dysport ®/ Xeomin®  targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. These temporarily reduce this muscle activity so you’ll begin to notice a visible smoothing of these lines.

These Injectables slows down aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles between the eyes, on the forehead, and at the creases of the eyes. The injections are effective for men and women seeking to retain a youthful look.

Injectables Q & A

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX contains tiny amounts of a highly purified botulinum protein. Dr. Bokhari directly injects BOTOX into the muscles that cause facial lines. The repeated contraction of these muscles etch the fine lines and wrinkles into your skin.

The only FDA-approved product to tackle these wrinkles, BOTOX paralyzes the muscles and makes you look more youthful without surgery, downtime, or sedation.

Do the injections hurt?

Dr. Bokhari uses a very fine needles to make the injections and most people tolerate the treatment well. It feels like a pinch on your skin, but if you’re concerned about the sensation, ask the staff about numbing the injection sites with ice or a topical anesthetic. The entire procedure takes just 10 minutes.

Will I experience bruising after the injections?

If the injection hits a tiny blood vessel, you may experience slight bruising, but this is not very common. If you take blood thinners, you may also be prone to bruising following BOTOX injections. Immediately following the injections, you may have some slight redness, but it should last just a few hours.

Intense exercise is discouraged for the first 24 hours following the treatment. You should be able to return to other regular daily activities right after treatment.

How soon will I see results?

Optimal results from BOTOX injections are noticeable between five to seven days post-treatment, but you may notice some difference within 24-48 hours.

Who is a good candidate for BOTOX injections?

Anyone who is bothered by the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles should consider BOTOX injections. As long as you’re in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the procedure, it’s right for you.

How long do the results last?

The anti-wrinkle effects of BOTOX usually last between three and five months, depending on your skin. You’ll need regular treatments to maintain your youthful results.
